Morning Prayers

In the morning when you get up, make the sign of the holy cross and say:

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have kept me this night from all harm and danger; and I pray You that You would keep me this day also from sin and every evil, that all my doings and life may please You, For into Your hands I commend myself, my body, and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the wicked Foe may have no power over me. Amen

Table Prayers

The children and members of the household shall go to the table reverently, fold their hands, and say:

The eyes of all look to You, 0 Lord, and You give them their food at the proper time. You open your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing. Lord God, heavenly Father, bless us and these Your gifts which we receive from Your bountiful goodness, through Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen
Heavenly Father, we thank you the food before us, the family and friends beside us, the love between us, and your presence among us. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
Come Lord Jesus, be our guest and let (these gifts to us)(this food for us) be blessed.
Be present at our table Lord. Be here and everywhere adored. These mercies bless and grant that we may strengthened for thy service be. May strengthened for thy service be.

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have graciously kept me this day; and I pray You that You would forgive me all my sins where I have done wrong, and graciously kept me this night. For into Your hands I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the wicked Foe may have no power over me. Amen

Mourners

Lord, we mourn the death of our dear one. Our loss makes us lonely, at times critical, and sometimes even rebellious against You. Forgive us our sins. Increase our faith in Christ, who is the Resurrection and the Life. As the wages of sin is death, so Your gift is eternal life through life, death, and resurrection of Your Son, our Savior.
By Your mercy make our dying here become our entrance to life eternal with You. Since we are members of the body of Christ, we are certain that when we leave this world we will be reunited with our loved one in Your presence in heavenly joy. Give us the ability to reflect this conviction in our lives.
O Holy Spirit, You are our Strength and Comforter. Give us courage to carry on in our daily vocation. Keep us active in helping others. Supply all our needs of body and soul. Give us a faith that radiates joy and hope. We pray in Your name, O God, in whom we live and move and have our being. Amen

The Lord's Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy will be done , on earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power,
and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen
Matthew 6, Luke 11
What is prayer?
Prayer is the communion of our heart with God, our dear heavenly Father, whether we ask Him for spiritual or material good, or thank Him and praise His holy name.
Why should we pray?
We should pray because God has urged us to pray and promised to hear us, and also because we continually need to flee to Him and open our hearts to receive His grace and help.
How should we pray?
We should pray with a believing and penitent heart, in the name of Jesus.
How does the Lord's prayer begin?
Our Father, who art in heaven.
What does this mean?
God thereby tenderly encourages us to believe that He is truly our Father, and that we are truly His children, so that we may boldly and confidently come to Him in prayer, even as beloved children come to their dear father.
Hallowed be Thy Name.
What does this mean?
God's Name is indeed holy in itself; but we pray in this petition that it may be hallowed also among us.
Thy kingdom come.
What does this mean?
The kingdom of God comes indeed of itself, without our prayer; but we pray in this petition that it may come also to us.
Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.
WWhat does this mean?
The good and gracious will of God is done indeed without our prayer; but we pray in this petition that it may be done also among us.
Give us this day our daily bread.
What does this mean?
God indeed gives daily bread to all men, even to the wicked, without our prayer; but we pray in this petition that He would lead us to acknowledge our daily bread as His gift, and to receive it with thanksgiving.
And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
What does this mean?
We pray in this petition that our heavenly Father would not regard our sins nor because of them deny our prayers; for we neither merit nor are worthy of those things for which we pray.
And lead us not into temptation.
What does this mean?
God indeed tempts no one to sin; but we pray in this petition that God would so guard and preserve us, that the devil, the world, and our own flesh may not deceive us, nor lead us into error and unbelief, despair, and other great and shameful sins; but that, when so tempted, we finally prevail and gain the victory.
But deliver us from evil.
What does this mean?
We pray in this petition, as in a summary, that our heavenly Father would deliver us from all manner of evil, whether it affect body or soul, property or reputation, and at last, when the hour of death shall come, grant us a blessed end, and graciously take us from this world of sorrow to Himself in heaven.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen
What does the word .Amen. mean?
It means that I should be assured that such petitions are acceptable to our heavenly Father, and are heard by Him; for He Himself has commanded us to pray in this manner, and has promised to hear us. Amen, Amen, that is, Yes, yea, it shall be so.
